Types of Care

Our extremely high standards are met thanks to the commitment of our talented, caring and compassionate team. Every single team member is dedicated to our ethos of providing the very best care possible and improving the quality of life for all of our residents.

We specialise in providing care which is tailored to the needs of the individual.

Our care is centred around the individual, with personalised care plans/pathways which are designed to meet the medical, social and emotional needs of each resident. We work closely with residents and families alike to ensure that the plans evolve to meet changing needs and deliver flexible care across the board.

Residential & Nursing Care

Casterbridge Manor offers both nursing and residential care – both types of care offer the same standard of personal care and accommodation, with the main difference being the type of medical care provided.

Residential care

Our residential care is designed for elderly people who want the accommodation, support and social activities offered by a care home, without the need for medical care from qualified nursing staff. Access to medical care is provided as required, with routine appointments and emergency care offered as standard.

Residential Nursing care

Our nursing care offers a higher level of support for those who require medical care, physical assistance or nursing support on a daily basis. We have a team of highly trained nurses available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, ensuring that we can cater for people with a medical condition that requires nursing attention around the clock.

Dementia care

We understand that people with dementia need reassurance and support from the people closest to them. We aim to provide the best possible surroundings for those dealing with the challenges of dementia – offering a safe and supportive environment which is designed to support each resident’s sense of identity in a way that makes them feel at ease – from memory boxes to photographs or familiar pieces of furniture.

We offer person centred, individualised care which focusses on each individual’s needs, abilities, preferences, likes and dislikes rather than focusing on the illness itself. To do this, we work hard to build relationships with residents as well as their family, friends and existing carers to do everything that we can to help our residents retain their sense of identity and focus on their individual requirements. Individual care plans are reviewed regularly to ensure that we meet the physical, emotional and medical needs of every resident.

All members of the team have received specialist care in dealing with people with dementia, ensuring a consistently caring and respectful approach.

Continuing care

Under the NHS Continuing Healthcare scheme, some people in care homes have their healthcare and personal care costs met, without their other assets, such as a home or savings, being taken into account

Having a highly trained, multidisciplinary team means that Casterbridge Manor is fully equipped to provide the care required for those who have been identified as requiring and eligible for continuing care. For more information on the Continuing Healthcare scheme, visit the Age UK website or phone Casterbridge Manor’s manager.

Palliative care

Caring for a resident and supporting their loved ones during their final days is something that we take extremely seriously. We aim to provide the very best of nursing care and emotional support for residents with a terminal illness, both in the earlier stages of the illness and at the end of their lives. Our palliative care enables residents to stay in the supportive and familiar care home environment rather than transferring to a hospice or hospital.

The team at Casterbridge Manor offer a multi-disciplinary approach to palliative care, focussing on providing patients with relief of symptoms and pain to make them as comfortable as possible, while also offering all important care, emotional support and in many cases spiritual support. Our aim is to ensure that everyone affected by the illness, including the residents themselves and their loved ones, achieve the best possible quality of life and support.

Respite & Day Care

Our day care is designed to help people to maintain their independence or stay in their own home, while also benefitting from the social interaction, care, healthy meals and additional facilities offered at Casterbridge Manor.

We know that caring for a loved one can be physically and mentally demanding. Our day care also enables families and carers to recharge their batteries, in the knowledge that their loved ones are in a safe and caring environment.

Whether used to maintain links with the community, avoid social isolation and experience new things, or as a short term solution while recovering from a medical issue, our day care services offer all of the benefits of a care home environment, without residential care. Those visiting Casterbridge Manor can expect the same high standard of care and attention as our long-stay residents.
